Many digital health startups aren't built with Medicaid members in mind. That's why Health Net created a request for information process to help the insurer determine which startups are the best fit for its Medicaid population, according to Dr. Pooja Mittal, vice president and chief health equity officer at Health Net.
Health Net is making a $46 million investment that will be spread out across 26 counties in California, and will support Continuum of Care programs, which are regional or local planning bodies that help those experiencing homelessness find housing and other services.

Care Health Plan and Health Net’s commitment will help secure up to 1,900 housing units in the private rental market and fund field assessments to find those who need assistance with Activities of Daily Living (such as feeding and personal hygiene). It will also help pay for vacancy coverage, damage repair, trash services, greenspace, maintenance and pest control.
After three years of not having to renew Medicaid coverage, redeterminations are set to return April 1. Yet, more than 64% of enrollees are unaware. Constant repetition and outreach from healthcare players will be needed to combat this, one payer expert said.
The collaboration is between Los Angeles County Office of Education, L.A. Care Health Plan, Health Net, L.A. County Department of Mental Health and school-based telehealth company Hazel Health. The program will provide L.A. County K-12 public schools with access to Hazel Health's telehealth services.
